Herman King

July 17, 1928 — August 1, 2024

Mountain Home

Herman Alva King of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away at his home on August 1, 2024, at the age of 96. He was born on July 17, 1928, in Wenona, Illinois, to Elza and Viola Vaughn King. His love of flying was an early discovery in his life. Because he had eyeglasses, Herman was not able to fly in the service, so he proudly served his country with U.S. Navy, as an aircraft mechanic with the U.S.S. Enterprise. On April 24, 1949, he married Lois L Hoagland, in Danvers, Illinois. Herman dedicated his career to the construction industry. In 1995, he made Mountain Home his new home after relocating from Illinois. A man of strong faith, Herman was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mountain Home where he found comfort and community. After Lois passed away, he married Betty on August 24, 2008. He found joy in woodworking and carpentry.

Herman is survived by his loving wife, Betty King of Mountain Home, AR; son, Roy Dale (Helen) King; Betty's son, Alan (Meredith) Mason; and six grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elza and Viola King; and son, Herman Dean King.
