Graveside Services for Hershel D. Smith of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be a later date in Illinois. Visitation will be Friday, January 9, 2015 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, at Kirby and Family Funeral Home.
Hershel passed away January 6, 2015, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 79. He was born January 7, 1935, in Mulberry Grove, Illinois, the son of Melville and Lillian Bell Smith. He worked as an exterminator and was a U.S. Army veteran. Hershel lived in Mountain Home since 2010, moving from Wisconsin. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bull Shoals and the Elks Lodge #3183 FOE. He enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
Hershel is survived by his son, David Smith of Yale, Illinois, and grandson, Matt Smith of Rhode Island.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Smith.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
