Homer Donald Owens

Homer Donald "Don" Owens of Midway, Arkansas, passed away March 25, 2023, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 86. He was born December 4, 1936, in Almyra, Arkansas, the son of Homer and Edith Saylors Owens. He married Katherine Kendle on June 13, 1959, in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Don was a retired Senior Chief Petty Officer with the U.S. Navy. Don lived in Midway since moving from Vancouver, Washington, in 1998. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and the Alley-White American Legion Post #52. He enjoyed watching Westerns and the Arkansas Razorbacks. In his younger years, Don spent time fishing and gardening.

Don is survived by his wife, Katherine Owens of Midway, AR; three sons, Donald Ray (Teresa) Owens of Virginia Beach, VA, Scott Duane (Lorna) Owens of Vancouver, WA, and James Owens of Portland, OR; seven grandchildren, Larry, Shannon, Shannon, Josh, Brandon, Tabitha, and Jesse; three great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Rogers; and sister, Linda Rogers Taylor.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Tiegan; and brother, James Owens.

Visitation will be Saturday, April 1, 2023, from 9:00 am until 10:00 am, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will follow at 10:00 am, with Reverend Daniel Thueson officiating. Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Navy and the Alley-White American Legion Post #52.
