Howard Beasley died Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in Mountain Home at the age of 88. He was born Monday, May 17, 1920 in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, the son of Frank and Zelma Misner Beasley. He was Cherry Valley High School Valedictorian class of 1938, graduated from Drayhons University of Business in Nashville, TN and Southwestern Graduate School of Banking SMU Dallas. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and retired CEO from Bank of Cherry Valley after 47 years of service. He was Chairman of Cross County Hospital Board, 20 years, Mayor of Cherry Valley, 6 years, Treasurer of Arkansas Bankers Association, 1 term, National Treasurer of 40 & 8 Veterans Organization, 26 years, State Treasurer of 40 & 8, 35 years, Honorary Chief de Chemin de Fer (National President of 40 & 8), Member of Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, Former member of Mountain Home Rotary Club and chosen Cherry Valley Man of the Year in 1958. He married Georgia Talbert on June 13, 1977 at Yazoo City, Mississippi. Howard lived in Mountain Home since 1977 moving from Cherry Valley, AR. Survivors: Howard Beasley is survived by his step-daughter, Anne (Jim) Allen of Mountain Home, AR, nephews, David Beasley, Dwain, Gary and Tom Hudspeth, grandchildren, Eden (Dale) Cowart, Amber (Marcus) Gibbs and Jackie (Ron) Freidman and great-grandchildren, Coleson, Aubrey, Drew, Jack, Sam and Joshua. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Georgia, 1 brother, 1 step-son and first wife, Doris. Funeral: Memorial services for Howard Hanson Beasley of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:30 A.M. Saturday, February 21, 2009 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Dale Cowart officiating and Military Honors by Alley-White American Legion Post #52 Honor Guard. Burial: Entombment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Library Foundation.
