Hughdell Stokes died Saturday, December 6, 2008 in Galena at the age of 78. Hughdell Stokes was born Friday, April 4, 1930 in Oktibbiha County, Mississippi, daughter of Hugh Clayton and Essie McClelland Edwards. She married Troy Stokes on November 7, 1949 at Rolling Fork, Mississippi. She worked as a Bookkeeper for a newspaper company. Hughdell lived in Galena since 1976, moving from Columbus, Mississippi. She was a member of Business Women's Organization of Columbus, MS. Survivors: Hughdell Stokes is survived by 1 brother, Clorus Edwards, 4 sisters, Juanita Brewer, Roberta Mayes, Peggy Boone, Dorothy Holley and 1 niece, Jeanie Byrd, 3 grand children and 4 great grandchildren. Preceded in Death by: She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 1 son, Ronald Stokes. Visitation: Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M., Tuesday, December 9, Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Funeral: Graveside services for Hughdell E Stokes of Galena, KS, will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, with Pastor Mike Howell officiating.
