Ida Mae Biggers Cowart of Gassville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family on September 21, 2023, the age of 71. She was born October 7, 1951, in Gassville, Arkansas, the daughter of Alvin and Eleanor Lawson Biggers and was a lifetime resident of the area. Ida Mae retired from Baxter Lab after 34 1/2 years of dedicated service as a sterilizer operator. After retirement, she became a caretaker for Area Agency on Aging and took special care of her clients. She was united in marriage on January 28, 2017, to James "Jim" Dempsey Cowart in Yellville, Arkansas. She was devoted to her family and friends and made each one feel special.
Ida Mae is survived by her best friend and loving husband, Jim Cowart of Gassville, AR; two sons, Dean (Denise) Cowart and Dale (Kristin) Cowart; a special daughter, Kathy Boyce; sister, Nancy (Larry) Cravens; brother, Jim (Vida) Biggers; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Roy Dean Biggers; nephews, Roger and Randal Cravens; and one great-granddaughter.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 24, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A Graveside Funeral Service for Ida Mae will be 3:00 pm, Monday, September 25, 2023, at Thacker Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with Casey Biggers, Jonathan Cowart, Tyler Cowart, April Isom, Shawna Cravens, and Wyatt Coddington as pallbearers. Ross Coddington, James Biggers, Emily Brison, and the boys on the hill will be honorary pallbearers.
