Services will be private for Ira William "Bill" Sumner of Mountain Home, Arkansas.
He died peacefully, Sunday, December 5, 2010 at Care Manor Nursing Center, at the age of 86. Bill was born August 12, 1924 in London, Ontario, Canada, , the son of Frank Westbury and Gwendlyn Mae Ticknor Sumner. He married Kathleen Osborn on June 15, 1946 at London, Ontario, Canada. He worked as the Director of Pension Services for Washington National Insurance Company for 24 years and retired in 1984. After retiring, Bill loved to read and also enjoyed woodworking, especially making toys for needy kids. He also volunteered in a literacy program and Better Business office after retiring. He loved helping others and will be missed by everyone. Bill was a life member of St. Georges Masonic Lodge, No. 42, London, Ontario, Canada, and he served in WWII as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Kathleen Sumner, of Mountain Home, AR 3 sons; Gary (Christine) Sumner, of IL, Stephen (Darlene) Sumner, of IL, and Jim (Denise) Sumner, of IL, and his wonderful grandchildren; Scott, Michael, Jaclyn, Daniel, and Jenna, and 2 great-grandchildren; Sherry and Christopher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Thomas.
