Irene Weis

Irene Wanda Weis of Gassville, Arkansas, passed away May 18, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 85. She was born September 8, 1938, in Kleszczewo, Poland, the daughter of Erich and Adelgunde Schoen Wenzel. She married Thomas Weis on October 21, 1972 in Chicago, Illinois and worked as a computer operator. Irene lived in Gassville, Arkansas since moving from Lockport, Illinois, in 2002. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Mountain Home, Arkansas and served as an usher for many years. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden, crocheting afghans, bee keeping, and participating in German club.

Irene is survived by her husband, Tom Weis of Gassville, AR; sons, Tom Weis, Jr. of Lockport, IL,  Mike (Hillary) Weis of Homer Glen, IL, and Chris (Christina) Weis of Mokena, IL; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Herman and Willi Wenzel.  

Visitation will be Friday, May 24, 2024, 9:00 am, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. A Funeral Service for Irene will follow at 10:00 am with Reverend David Gadbaw officiating. Entombment will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum with Tom Weis, Jr., Mike Weis, Chris Weis, Eric Wenzel, and Thomas Krask as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Special Olympics.
