Mr. Bailey died Friday, January 30, 2009 in Mountain Home at the age of 97. He was born Tuesday, April 4, 1911 in Paulding County, Ohio, son of Charles and Nellie (Ladd) Bailey. He married Alice Hargesheimer on December 24, 1931 at Van Wert, Ohio. He was a school teacher for 50 years, also serving as a Principal for the Ohio and Florida Public School Systems. In his career, which he began in a one-room schoolhouse with four students in rural Ohio, he was a teacher, a bus driver, a school principal, and an influence in the lives of thousands of children. He will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, as a talented craftsman, and as a man who loved the outdoors and the peaceful times of fishing on the lakes. Survivors: Ivan Bailey is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Bob (Vicky) Bailey of Mountain Home, AR, and Paul (Karen) Bailey of McNabb, IL; and his brother Charles (Una) Bailey of Hubbard, OH. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, son Rex, and 2 sisters. Interment will be private. Funeral: A memorial service for Ivan M. Bailey of Mountain Home, AR, will be 11:00 a.m. February 15, 2009, at Promise Land Bible Church, with Pastor Jim Beard officiating. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Promise Land Community Center.
