A Graveside Service for J.H. "Jay" Hollingsworth, Jr. of Gassville, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Price Place Cemetery, Pontiac, Arkansas, with Reverend Gene Carson officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post # 52 and United States Army Honor Guards. Visitation will be Wednesday, December 19, 2018, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home.
Jay reunited with his wife December 16, 2018, in Gassville, Arkansas at the age of 85 surrounded by loved ones at home. He was born August 4, 1933, in Oakland, Arkansas, the son of John and Buna Johnson Hollingsworth. Jay was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He married Edna Franks on December 14, 1964, in Gassville, Arkansas, and worked for Magness Oil Company for 18 years. Jay lived in Gassville since moving from Gainesville, Missouri, in 1975. Jay loved spending time with his family, friends and his dog, Shot Gun. He also enjoyed spending time at deer camp and on the lake.
Jay is survived by his two sons, Doyle Jay Hollingsworth and Dink Hollingsworth; daughter, Missy Denny all of Gassville, AR; two grandchildren, Joseph Denny and Melissa Denny Causey and four great-grandchildren, Nathaniel, McKinley, Kole and Liam; many nieces; nephews and friends that where more like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Alva Hollingsworth and sister, Keydron Payne.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks.
