Jack Acklin

Jack A. Acklin was born on January 11, 1924, son of Ira and Ruth McGowan Acklin at Lone Rock Community, Arkansas. He married Jean Farris on January 17, 2000 at Cotter, Arkansas. He was retired after 22 years in the United States Navy. Mr. Acklin was a lifetime resident of the area. Mr. Acklin was a member of the Ozark Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3246, and he was Baptist. He passed away on October 25, 2004 at his residence at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 14 days. Survivors: He is survived by his wife Jean Farris Acklin of Cotter, three sons Dudley Mackey (Sandra) and Bill Mackey (Brenda) of Mountain Home, Charles Farris of Cotter, three daughters Brenda Acklin of Harrison, Julia Dodd (Eddie Potts) of Norfork, Johanna Wade of Cotter and one daughter-in-law Tess Mackey of Mountain Home, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. Preceded in Death by: He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, and one grandson, one brother and one sister. Visitation: from 12 noon until service time on Saturday. Funeral: Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 30, 2004 at the Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend James Cox officating. The Ozark VFW #3246 Honor guard will provide military honors. Burial: Interment will be in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery Memorials: Hospice of the Ozarks Honorary Bearers: Matthew Mackey, Marcus Mackey, Jake Mackey, Joe Mackey, Eddie Potts and George Denesevich.
