Jack Barnes passed away March 18, 2021 in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 93. He was born July 23, 1927 on a farm near Haskell, Oklahoma, the son of Edger Barnes and Maude Victoria Morgan Barnes. He joined the Navy the day after his 17th birthday because his birthday was on a Sunday. In 1954 he married Margaret Bohrer. A son, Michael Thomas, was born from that marriage. That marriage ended in divorce. Jack had a fascinating 23 year career in the Navy, serving in the Vietnam and WWII conflicts, and earning the Navy Commendation medal and a rank of Senior Chief Electronics Technician ( ETCS).
On June 24, 1967, a few months after he retired from the Navy, Jack married Mildred "Millie" Griskavich in Claremont, New Hampshire. Jack joined the civilian workforce after retiring from the military and was a pioneer in the early field of computing, working for various electronic and computer companies in the capacity of Field Engineer, Instructor and Manager. After retiring from his job in South Carolina in 1989, they moved to Delavan, Wisconsin, and in 1995 they settled in Mountain Home, Arkansas. They were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Mountain Home. Jack loved to fish and spent much time with Millie on their pontoon and traveling, including some ocean cruises. He loved his family and spent many precious times visiting with them. His quick wit and sense of humor kept everyone laughing.
Jack is survived by his son, Michael of San Pedro, California, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Millie; his parents; sister and brothers, Faye, Paul, Clarence and Bert.
