Jack W Richardson

November 10, 1934 — December 30, 2022

Jack W. Richardson, 88, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022, at FirstHealth Hospice in West End, North Carolina. Jack was born on November 10, 1934, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, to Arthur and Alta Friend Richardson. He graduated high school in 1946 in Illinois.

After graduation, Jack worked as rodeo bull-rider. He then served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. After the war he served in the Army Reserves for eight years and worked as an engineer for the Carpenters Union. In 1978, Jack began working for General Motors as a foreman then as a millwright. He retired from GM in 1993. During those years he also owned and operated a commercial cleaning service with 30 employees.

Jack obtained his pilot’s license and enjoyed flying to Mountain Home, Arkansas and other locations to fish and be outdoors. Being a pilot was his greatest joy in life and he was most fond of those years. He requested to be buried with one of his flight logs. He retired to Mountain Home in 1993 where he was a member of the Flippin Church of God. Jack was a very avid Christian and met his future wife, Oleva Snyder, at church. They were married on September 11, 1998.

In May of 2022, Jack and Oleva left their beloved Arkansas to move to North Carolina and start a new chapter in their lives. He enjoyed meeting his grandkids and great-grandkids in NC and became especially close to the children.

Jack is survived by his wife, Oleva Richardson, of West End, NC and his step children: Debra (John) Hartley of Selmer, TN; Cora (John) Williams of West End, NC; Steven Snyder of Benton, AR; and, G. Allen (Julie) Snyder of Upper Sandusky, OH. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 47 great-grand children, and three great-great grand children as well as a great-niece, Aleah (Jessica) Tyrcha, from Orland Hills, IL.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alta and Arthur Richardson, and his sister Nancy Richardson.
