James Baker

Memorial services for James M. Baker of Mountain Home, AR, will be private at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend David Johnson officiating. James died Thursday, October 15, 2009 in Mountain Home at the age of 81. He was born Thursday, November 17, 1927 in Whitenburg, Texas, the son of Kit and Versa Ester Thorn Baker. He married Ilene M. Perkins on January 12, 1958 at Midway, Georgia and worked as a Construction Engineer. James was a retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant serving three terms in Korea. James lived in Mountain Home since 1992 moving from Borger, Texas and enjoyed woodworking. James Baker is survived by his step-daughter, Kay (Clint) Edwards of Mountain Home, AR, 5 grandchildren, Richard, Jeffrey, Donald (Linda), John and Dennis (Barbara), 9 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jacey, Meagan, David, Daniel, Deanna, Bethany, Calvin and Brandon, and sister, Phyllis (Buck) Fornby. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ilene and daughter, Jana Lynn Thompson. Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
