James Andrew Holmes

A Graveside Service for James Andrew Holmes of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Monday, April 28, 2014, at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, with Reverend Tom Baker officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246 Honor Guard.

James passed away April 24, 2014, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 82. He was born in Meshoppen, Pennsylvania, the son of James and Frances Holmes. He married Genevieve and worked as a district manager for a shoe manufacturing company. James was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and lived in Mountain Home since 2012, moving from Brewton, Alabama. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading and traveling. He visited 48 states and some of Canada.

James is survived by his life partner, Alice Hyde of Mountain Home, AR; two daughters, Deborah (Fon) Holmes-Wong of Pasadena, CA and Karen (Dean) Jennings of Boise, ID; three grandchildren, Genevieve Jennings, Isabelle Wong and Bridget Wong; sister, Florence Howard and three brothers, Frank Holmes, Charles Holmes and Terry Holmes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife and four sisters, Ruth, Thalia, Bertha and Rosemary.

Memorials may be made to Pietz Cancer House.

Arrangements are by Kirby and Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
