James Frederick Lehmkuhl of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away May 26, 2021, in Mountain Home at the age of 78. He was born April 25, 1943, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the son of George Frederick and Mary Garlough Lehmkuhl. He grew up in various small towns in the Minneapolis area, the longest time in Waconia.

James is survived by his brother, George (Judy) Lehmkuhl of Golden, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

James received a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Biology in 1966 and Master of Science degree in 1971; both from Mankato State College in Minnesota.

In 1973 James moved to Mountain Home where his parents had purchased a home on Tanglewood Drive. During his time in Mountain Home James was involved in The Twin Lakes Playhouse, the North Arkansas Woodcarvers, the Arts and Crafts Association, the Ozark Earth Science Club, Project Love, People First, and the First United Methodist Church. He was characterized by his sense of humor and strong singing voice, enjoyment of people, and skill at Bingo and Skip-Bo.

James moved into the Mountain Home Good Samaritan Society Healthcare Unit in 2009 because of complications from paralytic polio which he had when he was 11 years old. He was very involved in activities there and was an eager participant on the resident committee, serving as chairman. He entertained residents with his puppet shows and gave religious services to residents in the special care unit.

James will be laid to rest with his parents at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
