James D. McGowne, 79, of Flippin, Arkansas, passed away on April 20, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was born on May 28, 1944, in Yellville, Arkansas. A lifelong resident of the Flippin area, James dedicated many years to the community as a firefighter and later retired from Travenol, now known as Baxter Labs.
An avid outdoorsman, James cherished the time he spent hunting, fishing, and guiding others along the river. His collection of Indian artifacts was a testament to his deep appreciation for native culture. Beyond his hobbies, James was deeply committed to his faith, serving passionately as a minister and sharing his beliefs with others.
James leaves behind cherished friends, including Brian and Kim Rowe of Gassville, AR; Reggie Almond of Mountain Home, AR; and Linda Schultz of Valley Springs, AR; sister, Sue McGowne of WA; great niece, Christy of Springfield, MO, along with many others who were touched by his kindness and spirit.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his siblings.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Flippin Cemetery, with Pastor Derrick Griggs officiating. James will be laid to rest in Flippin Cemetery.
