James Patterson of Midway, Arkansas, passed away February 6, 2024, in St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of 90. He was born October 15, 1933, in Tupelo, Oklahoma, the son of Charles and Ruth Turner Patterson. He married Betty Denton on June 30, 1957 in Arkoma, Oklahoma. James was a Retired Sergeant First Class with the United States Army. After serving in the Army, he went to work in construction and then security for Whirlpool in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He lived in Arkansas since moving from Fort Knox, Kentucky, in 1973. After Betty passed away in 2003, he met Patricia, whom he was married to for 17 years before she passed away. Through the years, he attended Eastside Baptist Church and Mountain Home Baptist Church. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and painting.
James is survived by his son, James (Tina) Patterson of Muldrow, OK; daughter, Donna (Ben) Coleman of Jefferson, GA; and granddaughter, Laura Coleman. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives; brother, Charles Patterson; and sister, Marion Beaucham.
A Graveside Funeral Service with Military Honors will be 10:00 am, Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Open-Air Chapel in Kirby's Tucker Memorial Mausoleum.
