James L Smart of Gainesville, Missouri, passed away April 5, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 79. He was born October 3, 1944, in Gainesville, Missouri, the son of Kreath and Myrtle Shockey Smart. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his dogs.

James is survived by his wife, Roberta Smart; two daughters, Vernie Pauley and Cindee Ruark; grandchildren, Samantha Pauley, Courtni Ruark, Casey Ruark, Brittany Stanley, Tasha Stanley, and Samanza Seward; great-grandchildren, Damien and Lucien Pauley, Malcom Blanchard, and Kaylie, Xandar, and Elias Ruark; and several brothers and sisters.
