James Weaver

Funeral Services for James Chester Weaver of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Mike Shy officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the funeral home. James died Friday, August 5, 2011 at Baxter Regional Medical Center, at the age of 80. He was born April 21, 1931 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Chester Harvey and Mildred Jane Gamble Weaver. He married Betty L. Luthultz on September 19, 1953 at Biloxi, Mississippi, served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the U.S. Navy. Jim was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. James lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas since 1973 moving from Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He owned and operated Jim's Ozark Pump Service from 1973 until 1991 in Mountain Home. He was a member of Ozark VFW Post 3246, DAV, Fleet Reserve Association and Retreads Motorcycle Club. He enjoyed gardening, cars, motorcycles, feeding the birds. He loved his dogs and was an avid reader. James is survived by 3 daughters, Rita (Robert) Petersdorf of Saint Charles, IL, Debra Vaughan of Mountain Home, AR and Kathryn Wegener of Midway, AR; 1 son, Brice Malvin Page of Broomfield, CO; 6 grandchildren, Mike Murphy, Zak Page, Chesarae Terry, Shaun Brown, James Brown and Felicia Vaughan; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Allen Neal Weaver of Cedar Rapids, IA and 1 sister, Marion Kucera of Cedar Rapids, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 wives, Betty and Marlene, 1 brother, Vernon Crandall Weaver and 1 sister, June Hansen. Burial will be 10:00 am, Friday, August 12, 2011 at the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery with the Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246 Honor Guard providing Military Honors. Memorials may be made to the Perry's Orphan Sanctuary, 1031 CR 144, Oakland, AR 72661, 870-431-8354. Arrangements are by Kirby & Family Funeral and Cremation Services.
