James W. Wheeler of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away November 6, 2024 at his residence. James was born in Clifton Springs, New York on October 27, 1947 to Frank and Helen Goodman Wheeler. He went to Phelps high School, Phelps, New York. He worked on his father's farm then became an ironworker. He married Dorothy Mesleyn on August 27, 1966. The couple and their two daughters moved to Houston, Texas in October of 1988. They managed Wilderness Point Camping Resort for three years.
James was known as "The Walleye Man!" for his great fishing abilities. James enjoyed people from all walks of life, dancing, the outdoors, camping, hiking, exploring and especially, photography with his wife; capturing nature the way they saw it and sharing it with others at craft shows.
James is survived by his wife, Dorothy; brothers, Fred Wheeler and David Wheeler; sisters, Barbara McGory, and Vera Morris; daughters, Candy Dufek and Christine Hubby and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Erna Dillon.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be Monday, November 11, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM in Kirby's Funeral Home Chapel, 600 Hospital Drive, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
