James Alfred Woods died Thursday, December 23, 2010 at his residence. He was born February 28, 1930 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Martin Truman and Vada Pauline Chidester Woods.
He worked as a Radar and Computer Tech for the Illinois and Arkansas National Guard. James Woods was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Korean War. James lived in Clarkridge, Arkansas since 1987 moving from North Little Rock Arkansas. He was a member of the American Legion, Chicago, Masonic Lodge, North Little Rock, a former member of the Baxter County Quorum Court, Baxter County Republican Committee and Baxter County Republican Men. He enjoyed yardwork, working with wood and fishing.
James is survived by 4 sisters, Pauline Figurski of Mountain Home, AR, Evelyn R. (Donald) Lunden of Covina, CA, Mildred R. Rorie of Clarkridge, AR, Marion B. Waghner of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Maria Woods of El Paso, TX; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
Burial will be in the Bentley Ridge Cemetery with Eddie Coombs, Dakota Figurski, Sean Sammons, Ross Sammons, Robert Washner and Joe Woods as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Hunter, Dick Homan and Bob Cohee. Military honors will be provided by the Alley White, American Legion Post #52 Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to the St. Thomas Anglican Church.
