Jane Hamrick Jones

Jane (Janey) Hamrick Jones was born and raised in Saint Albans, West Virginia. Janey passed away August 12 in Mountain Home, Arkansas one week after celebrating her 86th birthday. A long-time resident of Fort Worth, Texas, Janey and her husband Dewaine retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1992.
After graduating high school, Janey went to school in Mexico City, then joined Delta Airlines as a ticket agent living in New York City. She eventually “landed” in Fort Worth. When Dewaine purchased an airline ticket, he bought more than he bargained for and thus they began their life together. They had two daughters, Ginger and Holly, and particularly loved vacations to their White River caboose where they spent countless hours exploring and enjoying the lake.
Janey was an exceptional homemaker. With her vision and Dewaine’s skills, they created beautiful homes which they filled with her reclaimed treasures, sewing, and his wood carvings. They enjoyed traveling the world with Fort Worth friends, yet their special haven was their beloved home on Norfork Lake where they proudly welcomed friends and family for years. Many a friend was treated to Janey’s home cooked meals, cookies, jams, opinions, and colorful stories.
Janey was predeceased by her husband Dewaine and is survived by daughters Ginger Jones (Ken Smith) of Portland, Maine; and Holly Wolf (Charlie) and grandchildren, Joseph and Pearson-Rae Wolf. Janey leaves numerous family friends including “adopted son” Ken Jones of Fort Worth, TX and “bossy daughters” Vicky Ahillen, Stephanie Clark, and Martha Webb. Special gratitude to them and to David Marsico for their loving care which allowed Janey to continue living in her home. Gratitude also to the caring nurses and staff at Hospice of the Ozarks. A small celebration of life tea party was held at Janey’s home.
