She married John Conley of England and in 1956 moved to the United States, crossing the Atlantic Ocean on The USS United States. Her only child, Derek, was born in 1957. John Conley passed away and years later, in 1968, she married Richard B. Walsh of Round Lake, Illinois. During her working years she was a saleswoman and homemaker. Jane continued to live as a retiree in Mountain Home until 2009. In her retirement years she was a volunteer with Hospice, at the local theatre, and at her beloved Van Matre Senior Center. She was well known at the Center and spread happiness to anyone who would let her with singing, entertaining, or just a friendly word. She was awarded the honorary title of Hostess by the Center staff.
Jane lived in McHenry County for the past few years as a resident of The McHenry Villa in McHenry and Hearthstone Manor in Woodstock. Despite her health challenges she enjoyed interacting with her caregivers, and she did not pass up any opportunity to joke around with them or serenade them with a song in her charming Scottish brogue. Survivors include her son Derek Walsh, daughter-in-law Lisa Walsh, and grandson Jack Walsh, all of Wonder Lake. The family wishes to thank all of the friends and caregivers that shared their time, love, friendship, compassion, and support with Jane and the family. She was blessed to have such an extended family in her life. The cremation rite will be accorded privately and internment will be at a later date.
