Janis Kay Belander of Viola, Arkansas, passed away January 5, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, at the age of 77. She was born August 4, 1946, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, the daughter of Harold and Lois Mathews Lake. She married Eric Belander on June 28, 1984, on top of Pilot Knob in Salem, Arkansas. Janis worked as a Quality Control Manager for Baxter Lab for 37 years. She was a member of the Twin Lakes Church of the Nazarene and served as their Music Director, which she felt was her calling to help spread the message of the Bible. She spent hours each week preparing music and lyrics for the Sunday Service. She loved traveling out West with Eric and being home with her dogs watching the deer. Janis was an avid crafter and made petal porcelains.
Janis is survived by her husband, Eric Belander of Viola, AR; daughter, Tamra (Jason) Curry of Harrison, AR; sisters, Roberta (Don) Willard of Mountain Home, AR, and Shirley Stovall of Canton, GA; brother, Harold D (Merrily) Lake, Jr. of Tucker, GA; grandchildren, Brandon (Megan) Hopper, Trevor (Christa) Hopper, Tim Curry, and Tyler Curry.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, George Ray Lake; and son, Howard Ingram, Jr.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. A Funeral Service for Janis will be 10:30 am, Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Twin Lakes Church of the Nazarene, with Reverend Harold Lake Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery with Don Willard Jr., Steve Willard, Roger Willard, Mike Willard, Jason Curry, Brandon Hopper, and Trevor Hopper as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Justin Jones, Ron O'Roark, Rodney Ketterer, and Tony Ackerman.
