Funeral Services for Jay Motsinger, 76, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas will be 10 AM Saturday, February 21, 2015, at East Side Baptist Church in Mountain Home, AR with the Reverend Darrell DeBoard officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Jay died February 18, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO after suffering an accident doing what he loved, riding his motorcycle.
Jay was born July 20, 1938, in Kansas City, MO to Jeter Spurgein and Dorothy Mae Sager Motsinger. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary in Kansas City, MO. and they were inseparable until her passing August 9, 2014. Jay began working at 17 as a factory worker then continued working as a newspaper man, a restaurant owner, a gym owner, a construction worker, a school bus driver and finally a rural mail carrier. Jay and Mary finally retired to Bull Shoals, AR and enjoyed walking, working out at the hospital gym, attending yoga class and volunteering at Baxter Regional Medical Center. They were very involved in the local Alzheimer's Association. Besides Mary, Jay had a great love of the Ozarks and all things outdoors.
Jay is survived by four daughters, twins, Marcia Motsinger (Kay Madden) of Kansas City, MO and Michelle Motsinger (John Friedman) of Hudson, NY, Melissa Motsinger of Jefferson City, MO and Mary Motsinger of Columbia, MO; grandchildren, Sydney, Marissa, William and Hallie. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
