Jean passed away Thursday, March 24, 2011 at Baxter Regional Medical Center, at the age of 80. She was born March 17, 1931 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, the daughter of Harold Ainsworth and Clara Bertina Hauger Scott. She married Wade L. Achord on September 29, 1962 at Winterhaven, California and was a homemaker. Jean moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas about 17 years ago from Longview, Washington to be closer to her family. She was a member of the East Side Baptist Church. She loved going to church, helping people and animals.
Jean is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Apfel of England, AR; son, Danny Apfel of Ottawa, IL; daughter, Laurie Jean Engel of LaSalle, IL; 9 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and special friends, Amy Symbol of Mountain Home, AR and Vickie Williams of Longview, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Bruce Apfel.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Northwest Arkansas or the American Cancer Society.
