Jean Hammerseth

September 21, 1931 — January 12, 2021

Jean Kathryn Hammerseth age 89, was born on September 21, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan. She died in Calico Rock, Arkansas on January 12, 2021. She pursued a degree in Education from Mercy College, Marygrove College and Madonna University while raising her three daughters, Donna, Ann and Joy. She taught at St Agatha's school in Redford Township for 25 years, where she enjoyed reading E.B. White's book, "Stuart Little" to her class. She was always passionate about feeding and caring for the wildlife; mainly birds and squirrels, yet sometimes a stray cat or a maimed crow would get taken care of too. When she and the love of her life Allan retired to Arkansas more than 30 years ago, that wildlife extended to fox, turtles and the many deer in their area. Jean was also interested in History, Art, Travel, Gardening, and Cooking. Along with her beloved husband Allan, who preceded her in death, Jean was also an active member of Pilot's for Christ International and Redeemer Lutheran Church in Mt. Home. With the abovementioned daughters, she is also survived by 5 grandchildren. Donations and memorials can be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Mt. Home.

THE PRAYER OF ST. FRANCIS

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
