Jerry Smith was born Friday, September 15, 1944 in Newport, Aarkansas, son of Sebern Jake Smith and Martha Josephine Turner. He married Peggy Smith on May 25, 1963 at Monticello, Arkansas. He worked as a Computer Tech. for the Arkansas Dept. of Health and also began the WIC Program for the State of Arkansas. Jerry Smith was a veteran of U.S. Army and lived in Mountain Home for 21 years moving from Monticello. He was a 1968 Graduate of the University of Arkansas - Monticello with a degree in Bussiness, member of Mountain Home American Legion #52 and in charge of the Angel Food Ministry at Church. Jerry Smith died Thursday, November 15, 2007 in Mountain Home. He was 63. Survivors: his wife, Peggy Smith; son, Nathan Dean (Tonya) Smith of Mountain Home; 5 grandchildren Jakee Smith and Holly Beard of Mountain Home, Elizabeth Smith, Karrah Beth Wells and Parker Wells of Conway, Arkansas; brother Billy Joe (Wanda) Smith of Mountain View, Arkansas. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Jeffery Smith, 2 sisters and 1 brother. Visitation: Visitation will be from 5-8 P.M., Saturday, November 17 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Funeral: Funeral Services for Jerry Franklin Smith of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Hopewell Baptist Church, with Reverend Louis Stevens officiating. Burial: Burial will be in the Tyro Cemetery, Tyro, Lincoln county, Arkansas at 2:00 p.m. Monday.
