A Memorial Service for Jessie Neal Soapes of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Thursday, July 16, 2015, at First Christian Church, with Brother Randy West officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 15, 2015, from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home. Military Honors will be provided by the Alley-White American Legion Post #52 and U.S. Navy Honor Guards.
Jessie passed away July 13, 2015, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 78. He was born March 29, 1937, in Throckmorton County, Texas, the son of Clyde Newton and Ina Faye Hulcy Soapes. He married Myra Tuell on May 29, 1976, at Shawano, Wisconsin and worked as the head of maintenance for North Chicago Refiners, a school bus driver, substitute teacher and was the former owner of the Buzzard Roost Inn. Jessie was a U.S. Navy veteran and lived in Mountain Home since 1991, moving from Waukegan, Illinois. He was a member of First Christian Church.
Jessie is survived by his wife, Myra Soapes of Mountain Home, AR; two sons, Neal B. (Joyce) Soapes of Lindenhurst, IL, and Nicholas (Jennifer) Soapes of Sheridan, AR; four daughters, Belinda (Glen) Lillund of Fox River Grove, IL, Tracy (George) Harper of Elgin, IL, Jean Doan of Louisville, OH, and Cassandra (Jeff) Stupar of Mountain Home, AR; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Alice Peddy of Amarillo, TX, and Brenda (Ellsworth) Crowley of Amarillo, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clyde Soapes and sister, Debra Soapes.
Memorials may be made to the Youth Program at First Christian Church or the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas.
