Jim Frank Thalmueller of Lakeview, the luckiest man alive, peacefully passed away at Hospice House in Mountain Home, Arkansas on May 22, 2023. Jim was 93 years young. He was truly “lucky” in every aspect of his life. Jim was also under Hospice Care seven years ago and was lucky enough to graduate from that and spend another seven years living it up with his beloved wife, Amy.
Jim was a traveller. He and Amy visited friends and family all over the United States, and they won a few dollars in casinos everywhere they went. He even won an Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest in Hawaii in 2017. He was lucky to have wonderful friends at the Mountain Home VFW. He and Amy played Bingo there twice a week.
Jim captained his boat on Lake Norfork, and Jim and Amy spent many summers tied up at the buoy near Tracy Ferry. He never met a stranger. Hundreds of his acquaintances were gifted “Jim Thalmueller Watches” and Claw Machine stuffed animals. His generosity was his virtue.
Jim was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. He was a retired Captain of the Little Rock Fire Department.
Jim was preceded in death by both his parents, his four brothers, his sister, and his daughter, Dana.
Jim is survived by his wife of 41 years, Amy Franks Thalmueller. He will be missed by his daughters, Debra (Dwight) Thalmueller-Johnson of Eureka Springs, Arkansas and Brook (Kyle) Presley of Houston, Texas. He was Papaw to his nine grandchildren: Scot (Heather) Mattox, Jeff (Shamara) Mattox, Katy (Eric Henry) Tipton, John Tipton, Chase Lovell, Lauren (Matt) McAlister, Luke Witham, Cody Sanchez and Eileena Sanchez. Twelve great-grandchildren also got to know him as their Papaw! How could it get better than that! Oodles of nieces and nephews and numerous unrelated people called him “Uncle Jim”! He will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm, Friday, June 30, 2023 at the Mountain Home VFW Ozark Post 3246, 214 West 7th Street, Mountain Home, Arkansas. The family would like to invite friends to stop in and join them for a time of sharing and a meal.
