Jo Nell Higgins

A Funeral Service for Jo Nell Higgins of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 2:00 pm, Monday, November 30, 2015, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Brother Marshal Lum officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until time of service.

Jo passed away November 22, 2015, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 71. She was born October 14, 1944, in Garden City, Michigan, the daughter of Kirby and Blanche Todd Brown. She married James Higgins on October 16, 1987, at Jackson, Michigan and was a private secretary at Ford Motor Company. Jo lived in Mountain Home since 1987, moving from Michigan. She was a charter member of the Midway Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and a firefighter from 1996 until 2004. She was the driving force behind the Fire Department garage sales. She and Jim started Higgins Electric Co. in 1998 in Mountain Home and she obtained her journeyman's license in 2004. She loved her favorite grandson, Bailey and enjoyed gardening, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Jo is survived by her husband, James Higgins of Mountain Home, AR two sons, Jerome (Carla) Nichols of Ozark, MO and Joseph (Inez) Nichols of Springfield, MO; grandson, Bailey Nichols of Ozark, MO; two brothers, Kirby (Doris) Brown of Mountain Home, AR and Stephen Brown of Greenbriar, AR; sister, Laurel (Raymond) Balwierczak of Cotter, AR and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Burial will be in the Mountain Home Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas, with Joseph Nichols, Jerome Nichols, Bailey Nichols, Raymond Balwierczak, David Witherington and Robert Martin as pallbearers.
