Funeral Services for Joe Monroe Penrod of Midway, Arkansas, will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, May 14, 2010 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Tony Delacruz officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Joe died Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House, at the age of 83. He was born February 28, 1927 in Hillard, Missouri, the son of Rayford and Della Gossett Penrod. Joe was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married Vina M. Grimes on February 15, 1955 at Hernando, Mississippi and worked as a truck driver for Southwest Freight. Joe lived in Midway, Arkansas since 1976 moving from Collinsville, Illinois. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and he enjoyed fishing, woodworking and traveling.
Joe is survived by his wife, Vina, daughter, Joyce (Kenny) Bodimer of Mountain Home, AR, 2 grandchildren, Stacie (Randy) Coy and Kelly Bodimer and 4 great-grandchildren, Tanner, Hunter and Olivia Coy and Kenzie Smeja.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors provided by Ozark V.F.W. Post #3246 Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Ozarks.
