A Celebration of Life for Joel Dan Benedict of Mountain Home, Arkansas will be Sunday, June 1st at 1:00pm at the Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel with F. Duane Graves, Minister, officiating.
Joel passed away Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 55. He was born March 9, 1959 in Harrison, Arkansas, the son of Danny and Marilyn (West) Benedict. Joel lived in Mountain Home since 1977, moving from Hershey, Pennsylvania. He worked as a carpenter and loved being outdoors and near the water. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his four-wheelers and camping. Most of all he loved going on adventures with his children along the shores of the lakes and rivers in Arkansas.
Joel is survived by his four children, Jacob Benedict of Mountain Home, AR, Jennifer (Jason) Holland of Tulsa, OK, Jessica (Corey) Christian of Dallas, TX, and Rosa Pendleton of Waynesboro, VA; four grandchildren with two on the way; his siblings, Jeffery (Cerelyn) Benedict of Dallas, TX, Jonathan (Sissy) McGuire of Vinita, OK, Jay (April) Benedict of Broken Arrow, OK, and Julie McGuire of Broken Arrow, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Danny Benedict and Marilyn West; his close friend and Uncle David West and his beloved dog, Chance.
Joel was a dog lover who gave a home to many stray dogs over the years. If you would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Perry’s Orphans Sanctuary by calling 870-431-8354.
