A Celebration of Life for John Boonstra of Flippin, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain Home, AR. At John's insistence only jeans and casual clothes should be worn.
John passed away peacefully, October 15, 2017, at the age of 81. He was born January 5, 1936, in the Netherlands the son of Hendrick and Antje DeVries Boonstra. John immigrated to Canada with his family in 1953. John and his wife Bertha and children moved to Illinois in 1960. After John and Bertha divorced he moved to Arkansas in 1979 and married Patti Pantall in 1989.
John was the ultimate entrepreneur working in Construction and Mobile Homes. He was the owner/operator of Boonstra Mobile Homes. John had lived in Flippin since 1979, moving here from Illinois. He was a friend of Bill W. John loved trout fishing, music and gambling.
John is survived by his children, Diane (Craig) Brod of Wendell, NC, Henry (Eva) Boonstra of Mountain Home, AR and MaryAnn (Dave) Rempert of Crest Hill, IL; brothers, Jerry (Eileen) and Bill (Ann); sister, Ellie of Manitoba; grandchildren, Shaunna (Mike), Jennifer (Eric), Henry Jr. (Kelly), Jessica (Joey) and Jaclyn (Will), and great-grandchildren, Abrielle, Marisa, Michaela, Jon and Hailey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patti Boonstra; five sisters, Martja, Janie, Trudy, Anneka, and Pat and one brother, Tim.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
