John Eastwold

John died May 12, 2007. He was born June 19, 1933. He married Delores Cole on September 16, 1956. John was an Army Veteran who was a corporal in the Korean War. John took Agriculture courses at Illinois University and made a career of sales and service in the farm supply business. In 1966 he became the top salesman in the country. John and Delores along with their two sons purchased the Bull Shoals Lake Boat Dock in 1972. It is now one of the largest marinas in the state. The family also owns Lighthouse Point Resort. John dedicated his life to his family and to the tourism and fishing industry of the area. He was past president of the Ozark Mountain Region, Arkansas Travel Council and Treasurer for the Bull Shoals Chamber of Commerce. He was recognized by Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. John was responsible for the 4th of July Fireworks on Bull Shoals Lake. He was instrumental in forming the Retired Fisherman's Club, the White River Outfitters Association and the Resort Owners Association Committee. Survivors: Wife-Delores of Bull Shoals, Sons- Steve(Cindy) Eastwold of Fairview, andRicky Eastwold of Bull Shoals,2 Grandsons- Kevin Eastwold of Bull Shoals and Ryan Eastwold of Fairview, his brother Mervin Eastwold (Phyllis) of Norway, Illinois Preceded in Death by: his parents and one brother. Funeral: Memorial Graveside at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview, ArkansasWednesday, May 16, 2007, 10:00a.m. with Kirby Davenport and Gary Head officiating.Military Honors will be by the Hoevel-Barnett VFW Post #1341 Burial: Fairview Cemetery Fairview, Arkansas Memorials: Hospice House of the Ozarks or Arkansas Children's Hospital of Little Rock. Honorary Bearers: All the Employees of Bull Shoals Boat Dock. Active Bearers: Gary Head, Kirby Davenport, Jackie Due, Niel Eskildsen, Kevin Eastwold, Ryan Eastwold, Richard Mell and Mervin Eastwold.
