John D. Gipson was born January 11, 1926 in Baxter Springs, Kansas. He was the son of Charles Wayne and Mae Hilton Gipson. He married Dorris Harvey on October 6, 1948 in Chinook, Montana. Mr. Gipson served with the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed as a mechanic with Zook Brothers Construction. He moved to Cotter, Arkansas in 1968 from Sheridan, Wyoming. He enjoyed spending time with family, baseball, repairing and restoring articles, including automobiles, country western music, and people with a sense of humor. Mr. Gipson attended Wesley United Methodist Church. John D. Gipson passed away October 20, 2005, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 9 days. Survivors: Wife of fifty-seven years, Dorris Gipson of Cotter, Arkansas; two sons, John Wayne (Linda) Gipson of Thermopolis, Wyoming and Reverend Rich (Becky) Gipson of Gallatin, Tennessee; two daughters, Bonnie (Bill) Holliday of Midland, North Carolina and Lavonda (Dean) Carpenter of Cotter, Arkansas; sister, Beatrice Brosius of Benton, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren, Heidi, John Christian, Nicole, Joshua, Starla, John Wesley, Jarret, Josh, Richard, Brittanny and Deirdre; several great-grandchildren; one niece and two nephews Preceded in Death by: His parents, one daughter and one sister Visitation: 5:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, October 21 at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Wesley United Methodist Church with Reverend Blake Langston and Reverend Rich Gipson officiating.
