Funeral Service for John Patrick Kelly of Gamaliel, AR, will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Twin Lakes Baptist Church, with Dr. Dennis Maley and Brother Daryl Young officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. John Kelly died Sunday, January 17, 2010 in Gamaliel at the age of 85.
John Kelly was born Wednesday, March 19, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Peter and Elizabeth Guerin Kelly. He married Lillian C. Kurzer on August 2, 1947 and worked as a Police Officer for the City of Chicago for over 30 years. John Kelly was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of Twin Lakes Baptist Church, American Legion Post #52 and the Fraternal Order of Police.
John Kelly is survived by his wife, Lillian C. Kelly, one son; John P. (Crystal) Kelly, Jr. of Fremont, California, one daughter Eileen (Dan) Vrachan of Plainfield, IL. 5 grandchildren; Keith Knapp, Kimberly (Mark Dostall) Henderson, Caren (Stephen) Crisp, Michelle Kelly and Marianne (Zac) Lamas, 2 great grandchildren; Grace Henderson and Madelyn Dostall, and one sister Norine Collins of Yucaipa, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Karen Knapp.
Burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas with Stephen Crisp. Dale Tolander, Tom Basye, Bill Camlic, Ken Murray, Art Wallace and Dan Vrachan as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Bailey and Jack Pepper.
The North Arkansas Veteran's Council, Alley-White American Legion Post #52 honor guard will provide military honors.
Memorials may be made to the Twin Lakes Baptist Church Hope Center.
