John Skeffington

John P. Skeffington was born April 4, 1934 in Park Rapids, Minnesota. He was the son of Leo and Anna Mertes Skeffington. He married Barbara Netz, December 28, 1968 in Long Lake, Minnesota. He had a master's degree in information media and spent the majority of his career years as a school librarian in Babbitt, Minnesota. He was an avid gardener and reader, a competitive card player, and "Jeopardy!" fan. He was commissioner for Northeast Lakeside Fire Department and an involved member of Baxter County Master Gardeners. He moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas during 1998. John Patrick Skeffington passed away at Hospice House, February 18, 2006, at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 14 days. Survivors: Best friend, confidant, collaborator and wife of thirty-seven years, Barbara Skeffington, of Mountain Home, Arkansas; one sister, Patricia Petermeier of Melrose, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews Preceded in Death by: His parents, five sisters, and two brothers Funeral: A 10:00 a.m. memorial mass will be at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Monday, March 20, 2006.
