A Memorial Mass for John J. Steffen of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 10:00 am, Saturday, January 21, 2012, at St. Peter The Fisherman Catholic Church, with Reverend Stan Swiderski as celebrant. A luncheon for friends and family will be held immediately after the ceremony at Fred?s Fish House. John passed away January 9, 2012, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 91. He was born April 5, 1920, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Edward and Zoe LaBaume Steffen. He married Esther Frizzell on June 16, 1957, at Poplar Bluff, Missouri and worked as a rail tester for Sperry Rail Service. John was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. John lived in Mountain Home, Arkansas since 1983 moving from Bethel, Connecticut. He was a member of the ELKS, VFW, Knights of Columbus and Twin Lakes Golf Club. John is survived by several nephews and nieces; one sister-in-law, Sue Castleman; and special friend, Ruth Heckman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Paul, his sister Mary Louise, and his wife, Esther R. Steffen. Private burial will be in the Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery, Mountain Home, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas.
