John Walters

August 18, 1935 — April 12, 2008

Jack passed away on April 12, 2008 at home, in the company of his wife and two children. He was 72 years old. Jack was born August 18, 1935 at New Kensington, Pennsylvania to Horace and Gladys Walters as one of four children. He married Ruby M. Craig on July 24, 1954 in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. Jack joined the Navy at the age of 17, served 21+ years, saw the world, and moved up through the ranks to retire as a CW0-3 in 1974. After retirement, he attended Southwestern College in Bonita, CA, worked as a Marine Engineer and eventually purchased Atlas Trophy in Chula Vista, California. Jack and Ruby moved to Bull Shoals in 1984, where he owned Jack's Guns & Things in Lakeview for several years. He loved fishing, RV'ing, cars, guns, and civil war memorabilia. Survivors: Jack is survived by his wife, Ruby Walters of the home, son David of San Diego, California; daughter Teresa of Big Bear Lake, California; four grandchildren, Staci, Lindsey, Evan, and Jessica; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Bradley, Jaden and Makayla; and brother Jim of Indianola, Pennsylvania. Preceded in Death by: He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Betty and brother Ray. Funeral: A Memorial Service for John "Jack" W. Walters of Bull Shoals will be 2:00 PM on April 16, 2008 at the Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain Home with the Reverend Teresa Walters officiating. A reception will follow at the Eagles Aerie 3183 in Midway. Burial: Burial will be private. Memorials: Donations may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks (Float for Life).
