Joseph A Berfanger of Mountain Home, Arkansas, passed away March 18, 2023, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 91. He and his twin brother, Jim were born February 18, 1932, in Indianapolis, Indiana. They were among the seven children of John J.and Dorothy K. Moser Berfanger. He served in the United States Army during the time of the Korean conflict, then attended Purdue University earning a BSEE degree in January, 1959. Joe was employed for 28 years by the Link Flight Simulator Division of the Singer Company in their Field Service Department with assignments on Air Force bases in Ohio, Florida, Taiwan, Okinawa, Japan, Iran, Illinois and Arizona. He married Sharon Kruse in Mountain Home on February 25, 1984. The couple returned to Mountain Home upon his retirement in 1987. Joe became a volunteer with Hospice of the Ozarks in 1994. He also volunteered with Kindness, Inc., serving in many capacities including building 110 wheelchair ramps and installing numerous grab bars for families served by the two organizations. He was a member of Hospice of the Ozarks Board of Directors from 1999-2013, serving terms as Secretary, Vice President and President of the Board. He also served on the building committee during the construction of Hospice House.
Joseph is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon L. Berfanger; parents; brothers, John, Jerry, and Jim Berfanger; and sisters, Catherine Hanchet, MaryJane Bruce, and Barbara Berfanger.
Joseph will be scattered with his wife at Kirby's Tucker Memorial Cemetery Scattering Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Ozarks.
