Joseph Alvin Gross, 87, of Flippin, Arkansas, passed away on September 4, 2024, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 15, 1937, he was the son of John and Edith Hunter Gross.
Joseph was a dedicated mechanic, having worked for Ozark Airlines and TWA. He proudly served as a U.S. Army veteran. He married Diane Mosch on September 24, 1989, in Prospect Heights, Illinois. The couple moved to Flippin from Buffalo Grove, Illinois, in 1993.
A valued member of the community, Joseph was an active participant in Christ by the Lake Lutheran Church and the Alley-White American Legion Post #52. He was also a lifelong member of the Twin Lakes Gun Club, where he enjoyed both recreational and competitive shooting.
Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Gross of Flippin, AR; his children, Joseph (Beatriz) Gross Jr. of TN, Jeffrey (Andrea) Gross of CA, Jason Gross of WI, Jennifer Gross of CO, and Michele (Michael) Nawara of AZ; his grandchildren, Gabriel, Abigail, Zachary, and Madilynn; his brother, John (Debbie) Gross of MT; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Janet Bott, the mother of his children; and his sisters, Gail Parker and Jessica Polejewski.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Christ by the Lake Lutheran Church, with Reverend Mike Clark officiating. Joseph will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery, Hwy 178, Flippin, AR, with military honors provided by the United States Army Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ by the Lake Lutheran Church or Hospice of the Ozarks Hospice House.
