Joseph Paul Lawless, 88, of Bull Shoals, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, in Bull Shoals. He was born on May 21, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to Paul and Margarette Sullivan Lawless.
On September 4, 1965, Joseph married the love of his life, Carol Snella, at Our Lady of Charity in Cicero, Illinois. Together, they shared a devoted marriage of nearly 60 years. Joseph worked in accounting for Danly Machine Corporation for 34 years, a job he took great pride in. A proud United States Army veteran, Joseph was always grateful for the opportunity to serve his country.
Joseph moved to Bull Shoals from Downers Grove, Illinois, in 2001, and quickly became a cherished member of the community. He had a variety of interests, including a deep love for the Chicago Cubs, Notre Dame football, and Lionel trains. Joseph also adored his many pets-Paddy, Princess, Mama, Sunny, Pepper, and Star-who brought him great joy throughout his life.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Lawless of Bull Shoals; daughter, Margarette Mary Lawless of Lisle, Illinois; sons, Joseph (Amie) Lawless of Shawnee, Kansas, and John Paul Lawless of Springfield, Illinois; grandchildren, Ryan, Lauren, Madison, Sarah, Annika, and Allaina Lawless; his brother, Tom Lawless of Mineola, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Paul F. Lawless; and his sister, Patricia Krask.
Family services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas to honor Joseph's deep love of animals.
