A Memorial Service for Karen Elizabeth Harper of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 7, 2017, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service at the Moose Lodge #1953.

Karen passed away January 1, 2017, in Mountain Home, Arkansas at the age of 75. She was born September 17, 1941, in Berkeley, California, the daughter of Walter and Marjorie Crandall Spross. She married Melvin Harper on October 19, 1962, at Oakland, California, and was a secretary. Karen lived in Mountain Home since 1995. She was the past Regional President of the Fleet Reserve Association, past Secretary for the Women of the Moose #1846, and past Secretary for the American Legion.

Karen is survived by her close friends, Kathleen and Terry Mason of Mountain Home, AR; two brothers, Richard Spross of Oakland, CA, and Phillip Spross of Portland, OR; and four grandchildren, Jeremy, Jasmine, Samantha, and Marcus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son Andrew Harper.

Memorials may be made to Fleet Reserve Association, the Humane Society of North Central Arkansas, or the Women of the Moose #1846.

The family would like to thank the staff of Baxter Retirement Village for their ongoing care and compassion.
