Karen Sue Jackson of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the age of 75 from pancreatic cancer.
She was born on August 27, 1947 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Robert T. and Lorraine F. Donahue Coverdale, both of which preceded her in death. She graduated from Mountain Home High School in 1965 and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Arkansas State University in May 1969. She spent over 30 years as a teacher in Missouri, Arkansas, and Indiana. Karen took great pleasure in her teaching and helping her students develop the skills that she knew they would need to be successful in their lives.
On August 23, 1969 Karen married William Dale Jackson. Their marriage produced two sons, Craig Jackson of Mountain Home, AR and Matt Jackson of Westminster, CO. Their union to Lee Anne Jackson of Mountain Home, AR and Kierce Jackson of Westminster, CO, respectively, yielded six grandchildren, Luke Jackson, Leah Jackson, Cate Jackson, and Cara Jackson of Mountain Home, AR, and Mackai Jackson and Dallin Jackson of Westminster, CO. She was immensely proud of them and loved to share stories of their academic and athletic successes. She is survived by her husband of 53 years; brother, Coop (Sharon) Coverdale of Mountain Home, AR; and sister, Nancy (Donny) Glenn of Inman, SC.
Karen loved to read, often reading as many as five books at a time. She had an affinity for water and spent as much time in and around it as she could, whether it be at the lake or on a beach. She liked to travel and after her retirement was able to visit Rome, London, Ireland, Costa Rica, Hawaii, Cancun, and Alaska. Karen was also a very spiritual person. She loved the Lord and prayed daily for her family and friends. More than anything else she loved being around her family. She spent a lot of her time at the various sporting events and school activities of her sons and grandchildren, and was affectionately known as "Mima". She had a great smile and could quickly engage someone she didn't know in a conversation. Karen will be missed by all that knew her, and she will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life for Karen will be 2:00 pm, Friday, December 2, 2022, at Kirby & Family Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Eric Smeltzer officiating. Burial will be at Custer-Herron Cemetery.
