Karen Belinda Reynolds

January 1, 1956 — February 7, 2014

Karen Reynolds, 58, of Calico Rock, Arkansas, passed away on February 7, 2014. She was born at Huntingdon, PA, on New Year’s Day in 1956 to her parents Maxine and Harold Dillman. She graduated from Northampton Community College and was licensed as a Registered Nurse. She worked in nursing at Pittsburgh, PA. In 1985, she was married to Jay Reynolds at St. Croix, US Virgin Islands.

Karen moved to St. Croix in 1980 as a nursing volunteer for the Queen Louise Home for Children. During her time there “Miss Karen” cared for many orphaned children. Later, she became an expert worker in mahogany wood products. After marriage and the birth of their first child Jessica, Karen and Jay operated an award winning tropical fruit and vegetable farm and cannery on the island.

Karen moved to a farm on Moccasin Creek near Calico Rock in 1992 and restored the 1860 King Family log cabin. After the birth of her son Jeremy in 1994, she and her husband built a larger home on their farm and sold home grown fruits and vegetables at the Mountain Home farmer’s market.

Her life was dedicated to raising her children to be successful and one of her favorite hobbies was planting daffodil flowers. Before her death she had planted over 30,000 daffodils of many varieties in a display covering nearly ¼ mile. She took pride in being frugal and organized and will be missed forever.

She is survived by her husband and two children, her mother Maxine Dillman of Leola, PA, and her brother Arthur Guyton of Piscataway, NJ.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 15th at the family home on Moccasin Creek.
