Kenneth Wesley Floyd

Kenneth Floyd passed from this life on November 24th at Cox South Hospital in Springfield,Missouri after battling a stroke that disabled him on November 16th at the age of 61.

Kenneth was born in Erding, Germany in 1958 to Maria Urban and was subsequently adopted by USAF Tech Sgt. Robert and Dorothy Floyd, who always told him that “adopted meant loved!” He became a U.S. citizen by naturalization on July 15, 1963 in the city of Biloxi, Mississippi. Living in a military family, Kenneth was able to live in many states throughout his life, but when his parents built and prepared to manage the Dairy Queen in Mountain Home in 1973, he made this area his home. Graduating high school in 1976, he later went on to finish two semesters of college at NACC in Harrison. Kenneth was a roofer by trade, highly conscientious and greatly sought after for leak repairs and total roofs. After many years he had to start using crutches due to a badly needed hip replacement. He roofed his last house - his dad’s - on crutches.

Kenneth loved to travel and put many miles on his motorcycle, from Mississippi, where he worked on an oil rig as a cook, to Idaho, where he worked on a survey team, and many other jobs throughout the country. In 1979, he and Anna traveled “out west” in an old VW bus, picking cherries, topping corn, roofing houses and trimming apple trees as they made a circle throughout the country (time mostly spent repairing the bus!). They were part of the first group in San Francisco who toured “King Tut’s Treasures”and Kenneth became immediately excited about treasure hunting!

Kenneth spent most of his life studying the Bible and believing that “God was in control!" Baptized at 17, he desired more than anything to do a missionary trip across the United States telling others that “Jesus was Coming!” Continuing to love the Lord, he never realized that dream, but did write a paperback, What Will Happen to You? (before Jesus Returns and the World Ends).

His love for flying prepared him to be one of the first to own a Powered Parachute, and flying one became his calling card, as people would identify him as “You’re the one who flies that machine in the sky!”

He is preceded in death by his son Michael Floyd and his mother Dorothy Floyd.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Tillman-Floyd, of the home; a son, Matthew (Marissa) of Fayetteville, AR; three step children, Tara Castillo (Gabe) of Lake Mills, Wisconsin, Amber Colvin Simmons (Sloan) of Memphis, TN and Heath Cummings (Lisa Oberpriller) of Mountain Home, AR; two grandchildren, Liam Floyd and Aiya Simmons; his brother, James Floyd
(Monna) of Mountain Home, AR; and his father, Robert Floyd of Mountain Home, AR.

Kenneth's graveside funeral service by Kirby and Family, will be on Monday, December 9th, at 3:00 pm in Oak Grove Cemetery off Old Military Road near Mountain Home, Arkansas. There will be a "Celebration of Life" with food, laughter, and wonderful memories directly following at
the Gassville Community Center. We hope that everyone can come and share our love for a wonderful man, with each other!

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a favorite charity or a local act of kindness.
