Kenneth A. Klug, 66, passed away March 4, 2016, in Mountain Home, Arkansas, after a short illness. He was born July 28, 1949, in Aurora, Illinois, the son of Armin and Marjorie Vegter Klug. Kenneth married Cindy Zahn on April 17, 1971, at West Chicago, Illinois. Kenneth lived in Mountain Home since moving from Batavia, Illinois.
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 45 years, Cindy Klug of Mountain Home, AR; daughter, Kelli (Ryan) Phillippi of Yorkville, IL; son, Kevin (Gera) Klug of Aurora, IL; granddaughter, Malea Klug; grandson, Cameron Klug; mother, Marjorie Klug of Mountain Home, AR; brother, James Klug of Canyon City, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Armin Klug and brother, Thomas Klug.
Kenneth was a 1967 graduate of West Chicago Community High School, West Chicago, Illinois, and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in Vietnam as a personnel specialist in 1970. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service during his tour of duty.
Kenneth retired in 2012, after spending his working life in several occupations, including accounting manager and small business owner/manager. In addition, he was a financial advisor for 19 years in Illinois and Arkansas. In order to fulfill a childhood dream, Kenneth also spent the last two years before retirement as an over-the-road truck driver for a national trucking company.
Kenneth enjoyed gardening, model railroading, fishing, reading, traveling, and doing crossword puzzles. His true hobby-passion was carpentry and he was always happy to be involved with remodeling and DIY projects.
A Memorial Service for Kenneth A. Klug of Mountain Home, Arkansas, will be 4:00 pm, Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with Reverend David Gadbaw officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 9, 2016, from 3:00 pm until service time, at the church.
Burial will be in the Glen Oak Cemetery, West Chicago, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church Youth Group.
