A Celebration of Life for Kenneth York of Flippin, Arkansas will be held 11AM Friday September 7, 2012, at the Bull Shoals United Methodist Church with Reverend Donnie Hudson officiating. Ken passed away at The Good Samaritan Society August 30, 2012. Ken was born January 24, 1926, at Ottumwa, Iowa to Vint Dewitt and Flo May Francis York. Ken served his country in the United States Navy before marrying Janet ?Jan? Overturf May 31, 1951, at Ottumwa, Iowa. Ken worked as a pharmacist and manager for Fastco Drug before moving to Flippin, AR from Ames, Iowa in 1974. He then worked for Baxter Regional Medical Center in the Hospital Pharmacy until 2000. Ken worked as a pharmacist for fifty years. He was a man of few words with a tender heart who could suddenly surprise you with his sense of humor. Ken was a private pilot with his favorite copilot, wife Jan; he loved working outdoors and was an avid Hogs fan. Ken is survived by two sons, Doug York (Billie Jo) of Cedar Rapids, IA and Kenneth York, JR (Jana) of Camp AMA, Japan; one daughter, Lori Shockley (Mark) of Flippin, AR; sister, Betty Francis Miller of Bloomfield, Iowa; five grandchildren, Chad Shockley(Laura), David Shockley (Liz), Chris York (Anne), Ryan York (Feryl) and Griffin York; great-grandchild, Annabel Shockley and his special compaion, Daniel, his Bichon Frise. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Greg, and brother, Russell. Memorials may be made to the Marion County Senior Center.
